Stage-Specific Learning Programs

Stage 1 students explore reptile features and their diverse Australian environments, discovering how different species adapt to various habitats. Stage 2 programs delve into life cycles, environmental interdependence, and habitat variety, helping students understand how reptiles interact with their ecosystems. Every Snake Tails presentation includes hands-on interaction with non-venomous Australian reptiles including pythons, lizards, and turtles, plus our new baby saltwater crocodile. Students participate in Q&A sessions, observe reptile behaviours up close, and learn practical snake safety through demonstrations aligned with the Department’s Snakes in Schools Policy. Our shows run for 60 minutes and can be tailored for specific year levels or combined groups. We cover essential first aid knowledge and reinforce approved procedures for snake sightings in school grounds.

How long does a Snake Tails show last?

Our standard school incursions run for approximately 45-60 minutes, which works well for most timetables. For preschool and early childhood groups, we typically run shorter sessions of 30-45 minutes to suit younger attention spans. We’re flexible and can adjust timing to fit your school’s schedule and requirements. Just let us know your preferences when you book.
Students will meet a variety of Australian reptiles including pythons, blue-tongue lizards, turtles, and other native species. We’re also excited to introduce our new baby saltwater crocodile to the shows. All reptiles used for hands-on interaction are carefully selected non-venomous species that are calm and suitable for student engagement.
